October 14, 2014

Event Description

YASunidos is a youth collective created in 2013 with the goal of holding a national referendum to stop the planned oil extraction in Ecuador’s Yasuní National Park. Faced with the dismissal of their call for a referendum, the collective’s members continue to fight for a post-extractivist Ecuadorian society and to expose government corruption.

Gaby Ruales is an Ecuadorian activist with the leading grassroots environmental group Acción Ecologica and one of the founders YASunidos.

Leo Cerda is a climate, energy, and sustainability activist and a member of the YASunidos collective.
