Event Description
Recent years have seen a renewed fascination with the life and work of Clarice Lispector, sparked by Benjamin Moser’s biography and the re-issuance of translations of her writings. Panelists will discuss the current state of Brazilian literature, the task of translation, and Lispector’s continuing impact.
Speakers
José Luiz Passos is an associate professor of Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Cultures at UC Los Angeles.
Benjamin Moser is a writer, editor, and critic, and translator of Why This World: A Biography of Clarice Lispector.
Katrina Dodson is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley and the translator of the forthcoming The Collected Stories of Clarice Lispector.
