Metropolitan governance is at the center of current urban debates in Colombia, with public utilities, economic development, and transportation as central issues. Urban expansion requires the articulation of multiple levels of governance. In this talk, Diego Silva Ardila will present contemporary municipal, urban, and metropolitan debates and experiences in Colombia in order to analyze the global narratives of the Colombian urban “success”.

Diego Silva Ardila is a professor and researcher at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. His research interests include urban policy, metropolitan governance, and urban history. He is the former Deputy Director of the Colombian National Statistical Office and former Board President of the Colombian National Geographic Institute.
