An Introduction to Nahuatl Workshop

Event Description

Students in this introductory workshop will receive their first exposure to the Nahuatl language, one of the most widespread Indigenous languages in Mexico. This variety of Nahuatl is from Chicontepec, a municipality in the Huasteca region of northern Veracruz. Students will practice situations such as how to introduce themselves, and several expressions of farewells.

Speaker

Abelardo de la Cruz is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Anthropology at the State University of New York, Albany. His mother tongue is Nahuatl, and he currently serves as an instructor of the language at UC Berkeley and the University of Utah.
