Event Description
After the Worker's Party (PT) came to power in 2002, analysts used the term Lulismo to describe the PT's particular brand of politics. Professor Safatle's talk will highlight Lulismo and its disintegration as the last phase of the New Republic, the historical phase bookended by the fall of the military dictatorship in 1988 and Brazil's current political and economic crisis.
