In his award-winning book Our Trip to the Moon: The Idea of the Transformation of Nature in Cuba during the Cold War (note: English language title), Reinaldo Funes addresses the development of the concept of "geotransformation" in socialist Cuba. In this presentation, Funes will discuss the ideas, policies, and projects around its implementation during the Cold War.

Speaker

Reinaldo Funes is a Professor of History at the University of Havana, Cuba, and a visiting professor at the Council on Latin American & Iberian Studies, MacMillan Center for International & Area Studies at Yale University. He recently won the Casa de las Américas literary award.
