Verónica Muñoz-Nájar Luque is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of the History of Art. She holds an M.A. from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, as well as a B.A. in the History of Art from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her dissertation “Art, Civility and Religion in the Amazon,” is the first study to examine visual representations of the tropical lowlands produced in the Viceroyalty of Peru during the Bourbon Era (1700-1821). During 2018, Verónica was the Mellon Curatorial Intern in Latin American Art at the Museo de Arte de Lima, and during 2012-2013 a research assistant at the Los Angeles County Museum. Her research has been supported by the University of California Humanities Research Institute, the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, the Marilynn Thoma Pre-doctoral Fellowship in Spanish Colonial Art, and the Center for the Advance Study in the Visual Arts.
