Overview
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies provides funding for groups of graduate students and CLACS-affiliated faculty members to organize a series of public events, to occur over the course of an academic year (fall and spring semesters). Event series should be organized around an intellectual question that brings together and engages researchers from multiple disciplines on that topic.
Events may be conferences, seminars, lectures, or film screenings with discussions, among other types. Series must be planned by graduate students at UC Berkeley, or CLACS-affiliated faculty members. Events must take place on campus (or virtually, hosted by a Berkeley account) and must be open to the public.
Applications for interdisciplinary projects will be preferred. Projects that bring in scholars and speakers from Latin America are highly sought. Projects from all disciplinary fields are welcome.
Funding Amounts: Up to $10,000 per academic year (fall and spring semesters). Funds can be used towards honoraria, technical expenses, production costs, space rental, and domestic or international travel expenses. Food and refreshments are not allowed. All funds must be spent by May 31, 2026.
Please note that organizers who have received Event Series Grant funding in the past two years are not eligible.
