Charles Hale is Associate Professor of Anthropology and Associate Director of the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas, Austin. He has received research fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
