In this project, I intended to collect data virtually and from a long distant source for scientific exploration. For this study, I interviewed and obtained data from Spanish—English bilinguals who reside in Mexico City and Jalisco while I, the researcher, remained in the United States. I implemented innovative and creative forms of data collection to work with participants from a long distance. This methodology included providing clear and detailed instructions to each participant so that he/she/they could find and download the necessary (free) software for audio recording and file transference. This method relied heavily on tasks performed by the participant, thus knowledge of basic technological tasks by the participant is required. In the end, the data collected were of satisfactory quality to be able to perform acoustic studies and obtain reliable results. Such a determination is very important for the planification of long-distance research projects. This knowledge should be able to aid scientists who intend to perform studies with subjects abroad while being unable to travel due to personal or financial restrictions.
