Psychologist Carmen Gloria Quintana will discuss Chile’s transition to democracy and the fight for truth about human rights abuses committed in Chile following the military coup of September 11, 1973.
Carmen Gloria Quintana was one of two teenagers beaten, set on fire, and dumped in a ditch by military patrol during a two-day national strike and protests against the rule of General Augusto Pinochet in July 1986. She survived to become a symbol of the struggle for democracy in Chile. Quintana received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Montreal.
