Denise Dresser will explore how and why the reformist and modernizing narrative of President Enrique Peña Nieto has turned into a paralyzed, cornered government. Peña Nieto’s administration is under attack for the massacres of Tlatalaya and Ayotzinapa, as well as ongoing accusations of conflict of interest and widespread corruption. Dresser will also analyze the future of reforms in this context and the way social protest and mobilization are changing the face of Mexican politics.
Denise Dresser is a professor of political science at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a columnist for the newspaper Reforma and the news weekly Proceso.

La Dra. Dresser explorará cómo y por qué el relato reformista y modernizador del Presidente Enrique Peña Nieto se ha convertido en un gobierno paralizado y acorralado. El gobierno de Peña Nieto está bajo ataque por las masacres de Tlatalaya y Ayotzinapa, así como también por acusaciones de conflicto de interés y corrupción generalizada. Dresser también analizará el futuro de las reformas en este contexto y el modo en que la protesta y movilización social están cambiando el aspecto de la política mexicana.
