David Evan Harris, Chancellor’s Public Scholar of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business will speak on his new book, Você vai me servir: Emprego doméstico no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos (You will serve me: Domestic work in Brazil and the United States).

Você vai me servir: Emprego doméstico no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos (You will serve me: Domestic work in Brazil and the United States) presents a comparative ethnography of the relationships between domestic workers and their employers in Brazil and the United States. Focusing on understanding the specific ways in which employers hire, interact, and discuss their domestic workers, the work aims to achieve a greater understanding of the reproduction and legitimation of inequality and the influence of neoliberal economic ideology in both countries.

David Evan Harris is a Chancellor’s Public Scholar at UC Berkeley and a continuing lecturer at the Haas School of Business. Harris teaches courses including AI Ethics for Leaders; Social Movements & Social Media; Civic Technology; and Scenario Planning & Futures Thinking.
