Part of the 2014 Center for Latin American Studies Summer Institute for Teachers.

Events in Europe and Asia impacted developments in Spain, Mexico, and the United States, which in turn had significant implications for Alta California. This presentation will provide an overview of the international context surrounding California’s transition from Spanish rule to Mexican control to U.S. statehood.
